Paula Rego
Born 26 January 1935, is a Portuguese visual artist who is particularly well known for her paintings and prints based on storybooks.

Rego’s style has evolved from abstract towards representational, and she has favoured pastels over oils for much of her career. Her work often reflects feminism, coloured by folk-themes from her native Portugal. Rego studied at the Slade School of Fine Art and was an exhibiting member of the London Group with David Hockney and Frank Auerbach. She was the first artist-in-residence at the National Gallery in London. She lives and works in London. (source)

Pedro Chorão 

Pedro Chorão was born in Coimbra, Portugal, in 1945.

His first interest was biology and he studies in Liverpool at the North-East Liverpool Technical College from 1963 to 1967. It was there where he was inspired to begin painting by admiring the british pop artists of the moment that hung on the walls of the public library which he daily frequented. He then moved to Paris and studied history of art and archeology at École du Louvre and École Pratique des Hautes Études (Sorbonne) and at this time he began painting in earnest.
From 1968 to 1972 he completed 4 years of compulsory military service; 2 years in Portugal and 2 years in the Cape Verde Islands. Once back from Africa he concluded his Master’s Degree in Painting at the University of Lisbon (Faculty of Arts). He then returned to Paris on a scholarship awarded by the Gulbenkian Foundation (Painting) from 1976 to 1978. (source)

International Chocolate Festival in Óbidos

From today 14th March through 6th April the Portuguese city of Óbidos will held the International Chocolate Festival.

The event will focus the display on several showcases, placed around the small Portuguese town of 3100 inhabitants, full filled with plenty of delicious sweets and cakes ready to be tasted by anyone with sweet tooth.

In Welldone Publishers: Art Prints & Greeting Cards worldwide we will like to remind you the event also offers culinary classes for adults, competitions such Chocolatier of the Year or International Competition of Chocolate Recipes and educative activities for children.

Fantasporto: 34th International Film Festival in Porto

All of you science fiction & horror oriented followers should be happy because the 34th Fantasporto: International Film Festival in Porto is about to start today.

There is always a good excuse to visit such lovely place as Portugal although from Welldone Publishers: Art Prints & Greeting Cards worldwide we really encourage all the cinephiles or tourist with taste for the fantasy to visit Porto to witness who will be the achiever of the Best Film Award, the Best Direction or the Best Short Film, between others.
