Chambliss Giobbi’s figurative collages work on two levels: Firstly, as objects of obsessive psychological and physical mutation, and secondly, as testaments to an intense personal courtship between artist and model. After a marathon photo session with his subject, Giobbi prints thousands of photographs. He then tears the prints and glues them, piece by piece, layer upon layer, to create the image. What follows is a series of collages on panels. Some pieces are flat, while others utilize sculpted forms to create three-dimensional surfaces: Each series embodies a reinvention of technique that conforms to how Giobbi sees the individual portrayed.

Giobbi’s work is deeply psychological: portraits at once linear and composed, then abrupt and splintered. One is left with the notion of witnessing a concentrated, virtually operatic compression of time, catharsis and myth: an intimate viewing of entropy. (source)

American artist born 1948 currently living & working in New York city

Marilyn Minter has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in 2005, the Center for Contemporary Art, Cincinnati, OH in 2009, La Conservera, Centro de Arte Contemporáneo, Ceutí/Murcia, Spain in 2009, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Cleveland, OH in 2010 and the Deichtorhallen in Hamburg, Germany in 2011.  Her video Green Pink Caviar was exhibited in the lobby of the MoMA for over a year, and was also shown on digital billboards on Sunset Boulevard in LA, and the Creative Time MTV billboard in Times Square, New York.  Minter’s work has been included in numerous group exhibitions in museums all over the world.  In 2006, Marilyn Minter was included in the Whitney Biennial, and in a collaboration with Creative Time she installed billboards all over Chelsea in New York City. Most recently, Minter was featured in “Riotous Baroque,” an exhibition that originated at the Kunsthaus Zürich and traveled to the Guggenheim Bilbao. A retrospective of Minter’s work will open at Contemporary Art Museum Houston, TX and will travel around the country, ending at the Brooklyn Museum, NY.  Minter is represented by Salon 94, New York and Regen Projects, Los Angeles. New York based artist raised in Miami

New York based artist Daniel Arsham straddles the line between art, architecture and performance. Raised in Miami, Arsham attended the Cooper Union in New York City where he received the Gelman Trust Fellowship Award in 2003. Architecture is a prevalent subject throughout his work; environments with eroded walls and stairs going nowhere, landscapes where nature overrides structures, and a general sense of playfulness within existing architecture. Arsham makes architecture do things it is not supposed to do, mining everyday experience for opportunities to confuse and confound our expectations of space and form. Simple yet paradoxical gestures dominate his sculptural work: a façade that appears to billow in the wind, a figure wrapped up in the surface of a wall, a contemporary object cast in volcanic ash as if it was found on some future archeological site. New York Polish Film Festival

From today 7th May through 11th May is taking place in New York the 10th New York Polish Film Festival, event sponsored by Consulate General of the Republic of Poland and held from the Anthology Film Archives.  

 

Welldone Publishers: Art Prints & Greeting Cards worldwide are happy to make their tribute to the New York Polish Film Festival as the event is making its efforts into promoting Polish cinema industry to attract the States's audience. 

 

The venue is having great success year by year and the Polish Directors are presenting their projects with huge gratitude to the USA audience and overseas. Some of the films will be: Wałesa: Man of Hope by Andrzej Wajda;  Papusza by Joanna Kos-Krauze & Krzysztof Krauze;  Life Feels Good by Maciej Pieprzyca; Floating Skyscarpers by Tomasz Wasilewski  or  Lowing by Sławomir Fabicki.

Tribeca Film Festival

From today 16th through 27th April the XIII Tribeca Film Festival will be showcased in Lower Manhattan (USA).

The film event was created on 2002 by Robert de Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff to commemorate New York City as filmmaking leader after the 11th September's lower Manhattan loss of vitality.
