Anibal Catalan has developed a practice influenced equally by the Russian Suprematists
and other early 20th Century avant-garde movements as much as the
Deconstructivist movement that began in the 1960s, advanced by
architects like Lebbeus Woods and Bernard Tschumi. He has exhibited
individually in Mexico, the United States, South Korea, China, and
Switzerland, and as part of collective exhibitions at MARCO in
Monterrey, Mexico; MASS MoCA, Boston, MA; MoLAA, Long Beach, CA; Centre
Pompidou, Paris, France; Museo Nacional Reina Sofia, Madrid, Spain;
Museo Rufino Tamayo and Museo de Arte Moderno, Mexico City, Mexico;
Moscow Museum of Modern Art, Moscow, Russia, among many others. He is a
current recipient of Mexico's prestigious FONCA Sistema Nacional de
