Milan Fashion Week influenced by Art by Silvia Moya @Betrendy
Let's analyze another Spring/Summer 2015 Fashion Week and the inspiration in art as we did with New York and London. Our suggestion for today is the Milan's amazing creations:
It is curious how in the home place of Leonardo Da Vinci, Raphael or the Pre-Raphaelites there are no designers inspired by the Italian art.
Surprisingly, those ones who have get some Arty inspiration have chosen the French artists.

Me parece curioso que en la tierra de Leonardo Da Vinci, Rafael o los pre-rrafaleitas, los diseñadores que muestran sus colecciones dentro de la Semana de la Moda de Milan, no hayan querido inspirarse en el arte que emana Italia en todas sus vertientes. Los pocos que lo han hecho, además, se han decantado por artistas franceses, algo que me parece, cuanto menos, curioso. Aquí los tenéis:
Sonia Delaunay (1885-1979) is considered to be the queen of art deco. The French artist and her husband Robert Delaunay, founded the artistic movement Orphism inspired by the cubism and the colors of Gauguin and Van Gogh, among others.
It is interesting to note that Sonia Delaunay was the first woman enjoying with a retrospective exhibition at the Louvre despite her still being alive.

La artista francesa, junto con su marido, Robert Delaunay, fundó el movimiento artístico Orfista cuya principal fuente de inspiración era el cubismo y los colores de Gauguin o Van Gogh entre otros. Fue la primera mujer viva con una exposición retrospectiva en el Louvre.
The brothers Dean and Dan Caten, aka Dsquared2, have been inspired by the palette of the French artist and her geometric shapes to display a collection about anything but discreet, in which the predominant is the color blocking.

Now let's talk about the non-figurative artists. The American artist Franz Kline (1910 - 1962), member of the abstract impressionist movement of the 40's, and well known by his "spontaneous work", is the inspiration for the Sportmax collection.
The organic fabric is the key in the collection of this little sister of MaxMara.
Seguimos con artistas no figurativos y es que el americano Franz Kline (1910-1962), perteneciente al movimiento impresionista abstracto de los años 40 y famoso por su “trabajo espontáneo” es una de las fuentes de inspiración en la colección de Sportmax. El tejido orgánico y las texturas son claves en la colección de la hermana pequeña de MaxMara.
Blumarine, however, has been persuaded by one of the most important "Still alive" artists in France, the last genius of the pop art: Martial Raysse.
Raysse radically muted his style several times throughout his career, but the main issue remained the same: the feminine archetypes advertized by the media without putting aside the great masters of classical painting. So, the French artist played with the so-called variable geometry.
Raysse focuses on women although Blumarine's main focus is how the flowered outfits evolute during the show.
Blumarine, sin embargo, se ha inspirado en el concepto de uno de los artistas vivos más importantes de Francia, el último genio del pop art: Martial Raysse. Y es que el artista cambió radicalmente su estilo en varias ocasiones, a lo largo de su carrera profesional, pero su temática seguía siendo la misma: revisitar los arquetipos femeninos popularizados por la publicidad sin olvidar a los grandes maestros de la pintura clásica. Así jugó con la denominada geometría variable. Si para Raysse, la temática se centra en la mujer, para Blumarine las flores van evolucionando a medida que avanza el desfile.
At least we have found a designer who is set to an Italian artist (We are at the Milan Fashion Week!): Antonio Marras (Alghero, 1961).
The Italian designer honored Carol Rama's (1918, Turin) artworks and the show almost became a tribute to her life and work.
As example of this devotion, Marras dressed the stage with bicycles (as if we were in a bike shop or as if we were in the workshop of the father of Rama).
He even dressed some models with straitjackets in clear homage to the mental sickness of the mother of the artist.
Marras's prints are full of shapes and plenty of objects related to the artist themes (hands, blood and references to female universe).

en la Semana de la Moda de Milán!). Antonio Marras convirtió a Carol
Rama en su musa para la colección Primavera/Verano 2015 llegando a
convertir el show en todo un homenaje a su vida y trabajo. Empezando por
el escenario, Marras lo llenó de bicicletas desmontadas, como si
estuviésemos dentro de un taller de bicis, o lo que es lo mismo, como si
estuviésemos en el taller del padre de Rama, que se dedicaba
precisamente a esto; llegando incluso a mostrar modelos con camisas de
fuerza, en claro homenaje a la madre “loca” de la artista. Los
estampados de Marras están llenos de formas y objetivos identificativos
de la artista autodidacta(manos, sangre y referencias al sexo femenino).

Far from thinking that any Italian designer has been inspired by his masterful use of color, it is important to note that this central figure of the modernism played a leading role in the construction of a small chapel of the South French Riviera: The Chapelle du Rosaire de Vence.
The chapel was considered a "masterpiece" by Matisse himself. The artist worked through its architecture, its stained glass windows in its walls, and even on the furniture or the clerical clothing.

Lejos de pensar que cualquier diseñador italiano haya podido inspirarse en su magistral uso del color para sus famosas pinturas, el considerado como figura central del modernismo tuvo un destacado papel en la construcción de una pequeña capilla que se encuentra al sur de la Riviera Francesa. Se trata de la Chapelle du Rosaire de Vence, la considerada por el propio artista como su “masterpiece”. Trabajó en su arquitectura, en sus vidrieras, en sus murales, en sus muebles y hasta incluso en la vestimenta de los sacerdotes.
